Greenwood Platres is a group of detached villas for sale in Pano Platres, a mountain village in the Troodos range in the Limassol district of Cyprus. The two-storey houses have three or four bedrooms, total areas from 148 to 187 m² and private plots from 292 to 441 m². The site lies inside the village, at about 1,100 metres above sea level.

The three-bedroom villas measure 148 to 153 m², with two bathrooms and a guest WC, on plots of 292 to 393 m². The four-bedroom villas measure 187 m² on plots of 441 m², with two or three bathrooms plus a guest WC. The houses are designed in an Alpine chalet style. According to the developer, some of the houses have a private swimming pool.

Shops, restaurants and a medical facility are about one minute away by car, and a school about three minutes. The developer places the start of the Millomeris waterfall trail about 0.5 km from the houses. The nearest beach is about 40 minutes' drive and central Limassol about 47. The villas suit buyers looking for a summer home in a cooler climate or a year-round home in the mountains.

LimassolPlatres

Pano Platres is a mountain village in Limassol district, on the southern slopes of the Troodos range at about 1,100 metres above sea level. Limassol is about 37 km away by road along the B8 through Trimiklini; Troodos Square is about 9 km further up, Paphos airport just over 60 km and Larnaca airport about 100 km. The village developed as a summer hill resort after 1878, under British administration. Forest surrounds the village, and several nature trails start nearby; one follows the Kryos river to the Caledonia waterfall, which drops about 12 metres. Winters are cold, with snow on about 11 days a year. Platres has a health centre, a post office, a police station, a bank, a supermarket, hotels and restaurants. About 200 people live here year-round (2021 census); in the tourist season the number is much higher.

Detached Villas for Sale in Platres, Cyprus, With Three or Four Bedrooms

Greenwood Platres consists of detached two-storey villas in Pano Platres, the main village usually called simply Platres, on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains. Administratively the village belongs to the Limassol district of Cyprus. The houses stand within the built-up village, a short drive from its shops, cafés and restaurants.

Each villa sits on its own plot. The houses currently offered are three-bedroom villas with total areas of 148 to 153 m² and four-bedroom villas of 187 m². Plots range from 292 m² for the smallest three-bedroom house to 441 m² for the four-bedroom houses, so every villa has private outdoor space on all sides of the building.

The developer's published material gives no construction schedule, so this page does not state a completion date. Ask us for the current status of the individual houses.

Two Layouts: 148–153 m² Three-Bedroom and 187 m² Four-Bedroom Villas

The three-bedroom houses are the more compact type. Their total areas lie between 148 and 153 m², and each has two bathrooms plus a guest WC. Plots for this type range from 292 to 393 m², which leaves room for a terrace and a garden on the larger plots.

The four-bedroom houses each have 187 m² on a plot of 441 m². Depending on the house, the layout includes two or three bathrooms plus a guest WC. The extra bedroom and the larger plot suit families who regularly host relatives or friends.

All sizes are the developer's total area per house; no separate veranda figure is published.

Alpine Chalet Architecture for a Mountain Climate

The villas follow an Alpine chalet design, a style that matches the pine forest around Platres. The developer describes the architecture as integrated into the surrounding landscape with an environment-friendly approach, and the two-storey volume keeps the houses in scale with the older buildings of the village.

Life at this altitude differs from life on the coast. The developer states that summer temperatures in Platres are about 10 degrees lower than at the seaside, and winter nights in the Troodos regularly drop below zero. The developer's description of the houses therefore includes a fireplace for the colder months.

According to the developer, part of the houses come with a private swimming pool, and a pool can be added to others. Ask us which of the currently offered villas include one.

Pano Platres: A Hill Village at About 1,100 Metres in the Troodos

Platres grew into a hill resort during the British colonial period, when officials and visitors spent the hot months in the Troodos. Several hotels and stone villas from the first half of the 20th century still stand along its streets. The Greek poet George Seferis referred to Platres in his poem Helen, written after his stay in Cyprus in the 1950s.

The Kryos Potamos stream runs through the village, and the Millomeris waterfall lies just below it. The developer lists the start of the Millomeris waterfall trail about 0.5 km from the houses, the Platres Arena sports complex about 0.6 km away, a petrol station about 0.4 km away and a village restaurant about 0.7 km away.

Above the village rises Mount Olympus, at 1,952 metres the highest point of Cyprus, with ski slopes that operate in winter when there is enough snow. The painted Byzantine churches of the Troodos region are listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and the wine villages on the southern slopes are within a short drive.

Estimated Driving Times From the Villas

Everyday errands can be done in the village. Our estimated driving times from the site:

  • Shops and restaurants: about 1 minute
  • Medical facility: about 1 minute
  • School: about 3 minutes
  • Nearest beach: about 40 minutes
  • Golf course: about 40 minutes
  • Limassol city centre: about 47 minutes

The developer gives the distance to the sea as 35 km. Larger supermarkets, international schools and the main hospitals of the district are in Limassol.

Who These Mountain Villas Suit

The houses suit buyers who want a second home with a cooler summer climate than the coast, families who spend their weekends hiking or visiting Troodos villages, and owners who want a base for winter trips to the slopes on Mount Olympus.

With shops and restaurants a minute away, the villas also work for people who plan to live in Platres for most of the year and drive down to Limassol for work, schooling or larger shopping trips. Platres has a small permanent population, and it gets busier in summer and at weekends, when visitors from the coast come up to the mountains.
