Greenwood Platres consists of detached two-storey villas in Pano Platres, the main village usually called simply Platres, on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains. Administratively the village belongs to the Limassol district of Cyprus. The houses stand within the built-up village, a short drive from its shops, cafés and restaurants.

The three-bedroom houses are the more compact type. Their total areas lie between 148 and 153 m², and each has two bathrooms plus a guest WC. Plots for this type range from 292 to 393 m², which leaves room for a terrace and a garden on the larger plots.

The four-bedroom houses each have 187 m² on a plot of 441 m². Depending on the house, the layout includes two or three bathrooms plus a guest WC. The extra bedroom and the larger plot suit families who regularly host relatives or friends.

All sizes are the developer's total area per house; no separate veranda figure is published.

Alpine Chalet Architecture for a Mountain Climate

The villas follow an Alpine chalet design, a style that matches the pine forest around Platres. The developer describes the architecture as integrated into the surrounding landscape with an environment-friendly approach, and the two-storey volume keeps the houses in scale with the older buildings of the village.

Life at this altitude differs from life on the coast. The developer states that summer temperatures in Platres are about 10 degrees lower than at the seaside, and winter nights in the Troodos regularly drop below zero. The developer's description of the houses therefore includes a fireplace for the colder months.

Pano Platres: A Hill Village at About 1,100 Metres in the Troodos

Platres grew into a hill resort during the British colonial period, when officials and visitors spent the hot months in the Troodos. Several hotels and stone villas from the first half of the 20th century still stand along its streets. The Greek poet George Seferis referred to Platres in his poem Helen, written after his stay in Cyprus in the 1950s.

The Kryos Potamos stream runs through the village, and the Millomeris waterfall lies just below it. The developer lists the start of the Millomeris waterfall trail about 0.5 km from the houses, the Platres Arena sports complex about 0.6 km away, a petrol station about 0.4 km away and a village restaurant about 0.7 km away.

Above the village rises Mount Olympus, at 1,952 metres the highest point of Cyprus, with ski slopes that operate in winter when there is enough snow. The painted Byzantine churches of the Troodos region are listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and the wine villages on the southern slopes are within a short drive.
